Christmas in the Rockies 2012
We are just two sleeps away from the official start to the Holiday Season; Saturday December 01 is Banff's Santa Claus Parade of Light. It starts at 5:30pm and takes place on Banff Avenue (100 and 200 blocks). I've been in the parade for the last two years with the First Banff Sparks and it is such a fun experience...definitely helps me get get into the festive spirit :)
I encourage everyone in the area to come and celebrate the start of the holiday season. Ensure you are in town early in the day so that you can participate in all of the family fun activities. Spend time at Cascade Plaza and enjoy face painting, Christmas craft making and photos with Santa! Wagon rides are available along Banff Avenue and you may even run into Carolers spreading some holiday cheer. Visit the Bison Courtyard (Bear Street) to watch an ice sculpture be carved from a block of ice. There is even a 'Little Chippers' carving station for the kids to have a turn. Here is a video from 'The Real Banff' that shows some of the festivities from last year.
The Women's World Cup Downhill Ski Racing is also taking place this coming weekend at Lake Louise Ski Area. The full schedule can be found here.
The hotel has a couple of rooms left for this coming weekend - give us a call at 1-800-661-0227 to check on rates and availability. Look forward to seeing you at the Parade!
