Canada's Parks Day
This Saturday (July 21) is the annual Canada's Parks Day. Educational and family fun activities take place throughout the country in Parks and National Historic Sites to celebrate and remind us of this amazing country that we live in. To find out what is happening near you, please visit Canada's Parks Day Activities.
If you will be in Banff this weekend, here are some of the things that you can get involved in:
Sulphur Mountain Sanson Stroll - 9:30am
*Enjoy a hike up Sulphur Mountain with Parks Canada staff. Meet at the trailhead (parking lot of the Banff Upper Hot Springs) at 9:30am. This hike is 6km to the top and has an elevation gain of 655m. Once you reach the top, enjoy a free ride down the Banff Gondola! Register at the Banff Visitor Information Centre (224 Banff Avenue).
Art in the Wolf's Den - 9:30 - 11:30am
Enjoy an indoor art class at the Wolf's Den Theatre (Tunnel Mountain Campground Village 2). Space is limited; please pre-register at the Banff Visitor Information Centre (minimum age is 10 year old and those 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult).
Teddy Bear's Picnic - 11am - 3pm (this looks awesome!)
*Join Park's Canada for the first Teddy Bear Picnic. Bring your favourite teddy bear, along with a picnic and blanket to Museum Corner (91 Banff Avenue) in Banff. Free teddy bears are given to the first 300 children who take the "Bear Care Swear". Enjoy Parks Canada Interpreters dance and sing and learn more about the incredible "teddy bear". Enjoy a free piece of cake to celebrate Parks Day at 1pm.
Take a Kid Biking
*Parks Canada is launching this new event on the Bow Valley Parkway. Adults can "take a kid biking", enabling your family to experience the mountains together through cycling.
There are a lot of options for this weekend in Banff; ensure you take some time to reflect on this amazing area and how privileged we are to either visit or live here :)
